It is the distant future, humans have achieved faster-than-light travel and have established new colonies among the stars. But with these new outposts, we bring the same destruction that plagued us here on Earth.
Welcome to Mefitis.
There you will find rich oil deposits and an extraordinarily large amount of valuable minerals. Nearly everybody takes up mining or other geological extraction efforts as an occupation, receiving extremely poor pay from the energy monopolies that employ them. The air is toxic and the rainfall comes down in an acidic sludge. All the vegetation has died and the landscape is barren with violent and unpredictable weather. The colony is caught in a cycle of poverty and crime as the government is ruled by a small group of wealthy individuals with direct ties to the energy industry. It is a young colony, but has seen very dramatic environmental changes over a short period of time, causing the colonists to become consumed with fear as their surroundings crumble around them.
